“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence,
it is self-preservation and that is an act of political warfare.” --Audre Lorde

The innate wisdom of healing lies within each of us. Taking time to examine patterns in mind & body is an intentional step toward being well. Learning to tune into these messages has been shown to create a pathway to joyful movement and freedom from pain. When bodywork becomes a “conversation” between our nervous system & connective tissue, the restrictions and adhesions of the soft tissues are able to release from chronic holding patterns caused by the activities and stressors of daily living, acute pain and/or long term dysfunction and dysregulation. This can promote emotional liberation as well.
"The core technique itself is part of our human heritage and is found across cultures under different names over time." --Leonard Orr
For human beings, breath is a major source of our energy supply. We take around 16-17 breaths per minute. We breathe in about 10,000 liters of oxygen per day, oxygenating 27 trillion cells. Due to poor breathing habits, limiting beliefs, past big & little traumatic experiences, the average person only uses 1 liter of their 6-7 liter lung capacity. Most of us breathe short, shallow, irregular breaths, which is a very ineffective way to breathe because it increases internal stress, confusion, fatigue, illness-- all of which leads to less vitality! In a breathwork session, our breath is guided back to its natural state. Watch how young children breathe! They FILL THEIR BELLIES with air. They experience a full breath cycle, no inhibitions. It is relaxed, rhythmic, flowing.
Breathwork currently offered in 2 ways, available as 1:1 or group sessions
Option 1) Learn 8-10 breathwork techniques to use/integrate into your meditation practice or for adding tools to the tool box. Each technique will be demonstrated and explained, and then you will be guided through a practice of each, this session ends with a guided meditation for integration.
Option 2) HoloSomatic or Conscious Connected Breathwork promotes whole body integration of our physical, emotional, & mental states of being. We boost the flow of energy in our bodies, increasing our vibration, opening the door to receive visions, messages from our body and even altered states of consciousness. Significant events from any time in our lives can come to the surface, helping us gain valuable insights into our lives, get clarity, let go, move forward, unwind, reframe. When these experiences initially occurred, such as in childhood where we form most of our foundational beliefs, we may draw conclusions about ourselves that define us and the world in a limiting way, without conscious thought. Revisiting them in breathwork can help us recognize, reorganize & drop those narratives and reclaim lost parts of ourselves, restoring our sense of wholeness and expanding possibilities for our lives! Breathwork is a beautiful addition to your self love practice.
Breathwork can also be a way to deepen a connection in any kind of personal relationship, through a duos session.

Breathwork rapidly but temporarily reduces CO2 and oxygen delivery to the tissues and suppresses activity in frontal cortex of the brain. In the blood, alkalinity increases and calcium decreases. Sensory and motor neurons begin to fire more rapidly, which can feel like tingling sensations and cramping.
These are the effects of hyperventilation, however hyperventilation usually denotes a loss of control whereas Conscious Connected Breathwork is done with intent. This makes the difference. Instead of a negative experience, breathwork is a practice which can be incredibly therapeutic.
Although it can initially feel intense, Connected Breathwork ultimately leads to good results. The temporary alterations of the body chemistry are not harmful to the body, and are in fact, shown to have positive physical benefits as well. Before attempting breathwork, you may want to check with your doctor if you have non-medicated high blood pressure or have been diagnosed with psychosis.
Due to the nature of breathwork and the affect is has on our nervous system and endocrine system, there are some medical contraindications to consider. For certain types of medical and health conditions, breathwork is not suitable. With others, we can be attentive and adjust your session accordingly.
To be on the safe side, we require all participants to fill out a intake form prior to their appointment. We highly encourage you to be honest and upfront about any health conditions, illnesses and injuries that may affect your session.
If you are in doubt, please speak with your primary medical or mental health professional prior to booking an appointment.

Trauma arises when an event or series of events overwhelms, overstimulates and oversaturates our ability to process it/them., and when it persists, the body can become "stuck" in a chronic holding pattern of overwhelming reactions & reactive cycles. Breathwork with a skilled guide can help those with trauma, PTSD or CPTSD expand their window of tolerance, which means the capacity to sit with discomfort, bodily sensations & reactions that do not feel safe. A lack of safety can make "being in the body" unbearable, which perpetuates avoidance/dissociation and keeps triggers circulating & potent. By learning to activate the parasympathetic nervous system through regular practice of controlled breathing techniques, we can train the body to respond differently to these stressors & experience a greater sense of calm and control in daily life. If you have been diagnosed with PTSD or CPTSD, you must deeply consider whether you are prepared to confront your experience, to release it. You are the highest authority of your body AND you are responsible for your choice to use these powerful tools. Often, when someone has worked with a talk therapist, they come to breathwork ready for removing the trauma from the body. This work is not recommended for a traumatized individual who has not been receiving professional support.
